The 2008–09 season was the 117th season in Liverpool F.C.'s existence, and their 46th consecutive year in the top-flight. This article covers the period from 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009. This season is considered Rafa Benitez's best season as manager, with Liverpool finishing as runners-up with a club Premier League record of 86 points, just four behind fierce rivals Manchester United.
